SPEAKER_00

This is beyond reality. Hi Manaki.

SPEAKER_01

Hello, how are you?

SPEAKER_00

I'm good. I love that you've dressed for the occasion.

SPEAKER_01

I know.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you so much for joining me. I obviously, I mean, I love you on Aussie Shaw. How did it compare being on a competition reality show as opposed to Aussie Shaw, which is very different?

SPEAKER_01

Like, literally, the worst thing you've got to worry about in Aussie Shaw is a hangover. Whereas like this one, I was getting more of a headache wondering who I can trust and if this person's lying to me. So, like, it was definitely a different show, but I love the whole like having to be switched on and having to read into things and all the different clues and evidence and stuff. So I like I loved it. It was such a great experience.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I feel like competition reality suits you because I mean, there you were at the round table and you identified the three traders. You named three traders at your first round table. So I guess that was your downfall. Tell me about that. Did you realize you were that close and that you were onto them all?

SPEAKER_01

Well, that's it. I didn't realize I was onto them all. I obviously knew I was onto one of them. I definitely knew Alvin was a trader. So I was literally coming in the next day to take him out. I think with me, I'm a very logical person. Whether you've seen me on Aussie Shaw or other shows, when I go into arguments or like anything, I come in with receipts and facts. Like that's just how I am as a person. And so I came in with receipts and facts at this round table. And, you know, I probably should have kept my mouth shut. But as you'll know from Aussie Shaw, that's a bit of a hard thing for me to do.

SPEAKER_00

How did you know it was Alvin?

SPEAKER_01

So there was like a few things. So the challenge that we did, the dunking one, his team was the only one that got them right. He was also, there's also a question where it was like, who was the most trustworthy? And for some reason it was Josh, but everyone knew it was like Alvin would be the answer for that question. He knew about the Kira thing. When Shane left, he was like crying. But then I'm also like, you voted for her. So um, and then there was like in my head, there was like the Red Riding Hood analogy of like, you know, the sweet little grandma, but it's like really the big bad wolf. And that's what I it all clocked in my brain. I'd written in my diary that night, Alvin, Alvin, Alvin, Alvin. And obviously I was right.

SPEAKER_00

I guess people may have a certain type of perception of you from being on a show like Aussie Shaw. Do you think you surprise some people?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think a lot of people underestimated me, like in and out of the house. Um, I think when you're such a chaotic and loud mouth like myself, like you're saying, oh, it's just like another loud person. But when I dropped that bomb at the round table, everyone was like, Wait, you're smart. And I knew that was at my downfall because I remember saying it, and then I straight after I was like, Oh my god, I'm so smart, like trying to dumb myself back down. But at that point I knew I was gone.

SPEAKER_00

I have to admit, I really enjoyed seeing you and Lawson stick up for Shane Gould around the round table. Can you tell me about your relationship with Shane?

SPEAKER_01

Look, like that's the thing, is I they didn't really show much of it, but I was defending her today. She like was quiet and I was like, why are you guys going on on her? I think there was like a comment made on like she wasn't um interacting with conversations and she was kind of just hacking the back foot. But when you're in a different generation compared um to us, which are on these love shows and all these different things, how are you gonna try and relate to us a little bit? Like it's a bit hard to relate, but I'm always one that if I see someone getting kicked down, I'm not gonna sit there and um let it happen. And I think that's what was happening. And I was like, no, I will stick up for you, Shane. Um, but yeah, she did go way too early.

SPEAKER_00

I think it actually meant quite a lot to Shane in talking to her that that you boys stood up for her. Um, I guess she did also tell me that it was a culture shock when you and Lawson were telling her about the types of shows that you were on.

SPEAKER_01

I did watch that. I what watched the the little clip from your podcast with her. Um, and yeah, I can it's such a different culture shock. Like, even like, you know, with my own family, um, and they're from New Zealand and they're in that same generation, watching a show like Aussie Shore, even hearing about it, it's like, what is my grandson doing? So I can see, you know, and I can relate to how she would have viewed that, but uh we're in a whole different generation and a different society now. So, you know, I think she was a bit shocked that we stood up for her, but you know, it was the right thing to do in that moment. And so Lawson and I were like, you know, we might be the young ones, but we're obviously gonna stick up for Shane, who's the oldest in the house.

SPEAKER_00

I love that. Do you think you'll be taking any advice from Shane Gould?

SPEAKER_01

Look, I'm just like unapologetically myself. So um, you know, I'll still be doing my my things. And, you know, I guess the only the one of the big takeaways is just like what's next? Like, what's next for me? And um, you know, when you're in the reality TV and social media space, it's always about the what's next. So definitely we'll take that on board. Whether or not I will dim my lie is a different question.

SPEAKER_00

You did have a bit of drama in the house with Kira. Tell me about that and what is that relationship like now? Have you kissed and made up?

SPEAKER_01

I think everyone was thinking Alex and Kira were gonna have this big feud. Like, there was a lot of like stuff like that. Had this 10-year feud, and I come in the house and I'm like, I don't know who any of these people are, but I'm just gonna call people out for what it is. Um look, Kira and I are just different people. She's like really lovely, so uh, but yeah, we're just we're just different people in and out of the house, I think, as and we've come to terms with that.

SPEAKER_00

That's a good, very diplomatic way of putting it.

SPEAKER_01

Media trained answer.

SPEAKER_00

I'd love to know. Were you disappointed that you weren't a traitor? And how do you think you would have gone if you were a traitor?

SPEAKER_01

I am a little bit disappointed. I don't think I would have lasted long. As we all know, I can't like tell a lie. When I tell a lie, I usually either catch myself out in it or I would laugh. Um, I think being like taken in as a trader might have been a redeeming factor. I think, like, especially as I got with Kirby last night, that if I had taken out Alvin, she was like, I would have gotten you to be a trader pretty much straight away. Um, because you're so switched on. And at that point, I would have just been having fun and being like, let's let that one go, that one go. Um, but yeah, it would have been fun to be a trader, but also being a faithful was such a fun game as well.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think you could show a bit of your strategy and your smarts in being a faithful, but unfortunately it got you killed.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I know. It was that's the thing, is like when you're a faithful, I've got nothing to worry about. Like I'm going to break, like the only thing I've got to worry about is being murdered at night. Um, whereas when I'm at a round table, everything like that, I know I'm not guilty, so I don't have to prove myself to anyone. Um, so I can just be, you know, my complete personality.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I'd love to get to some quick fire questions. Who was your favorite person in the game?

SPEAKER_01

Definitely Henry. Henry, he was so switched on. Um, I was coming in that next day to like be mates with him. It didn't really show it on screen, but we had some good conversations and I knew he was a faithful. And I think that if we'd put those two and two together with like the Kirby situation, everything, you know, we would be taking her out, um, both of us together at a round table.

SPEAKER_00

If you were a traitor, who would you have murdered?

SPEAKER_01

Probably Alvin. Yeah, he's too too sweet, too kind, and I'd just be like, nah, Alvin, I'm sorry, like, love you, but you'd have to go.

SPEAKER_00

Who surprised you most in the manner?

SPEAKER_01

Definitely Kirby. I think Kirby, I've met her outside the show. She's so genuine, she's so sweet. So even watching her on screen be so conniving and switched on, it's like just a masterpiece to watch.

SPEAKER_00

Who were you most starstruck by?

SPEAKER_01

I don't know who any of them were. I'll be honest. I you like a few people, but I guess just seeing the housewives, I didn't know who the housewives were, but you knew, like when I found out there was housewives there, I knew who were they who they were when I walked in. Like you could just tell. So probably just them. They've just got like a poise to them that they come and walk into a room.

SPEAKER_00

You can tell a housewife.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I was I was like, I don't know who it is, but I'm pretty sure it's those two. They were like little blue bag, like Louis Vuitton. I was like, yeah, that's a housewife.

SPEAKER_00

Who would have the best time in the Aussie Shaw house?

SPEAKER_01

Definitely not Shay. After a few reads, she could begin to silly. Um, I think Gamble, low key. I feel like Gamble would love it. Like Gamble or yeah, Gamble or Chrissy. I feel like they would actually love the love the vibe of the Aussie Shaw.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I mean, paramount, make it happen.

SPEAKER_01

No, get too wild, and then all of a sudden it'd be like a wine dinner table, and oh, it'd be fun times though.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you so much, Manaki, for your time. I really enjoyed watching you on the show. I think it's a real shame that you got murdered. But yeah, looking forward to I guess seeing you in another season of Aussie Shaw.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, who knows? Might be coming out sooner than expected.
