Hi Rob.
SPEAKER_01Hello, Hiley. How are you doing?
SPEAKER_00I'm good. Thank you so much for joining me.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely pleasure.
SPEAKER_00I mean, you were murdered, and you were murdered for being a stable, faithful, someone that could steer the ship. Can you tell me about how you're feeling in terms of how you played the game and going out in that way?
SPEAKER_01Um, yeah, a little bit disappointed that I died how I died, but I kind of half expected it. Once Dico had been murdered, uh voted out, I was like, okay, well, they're gonna probably go after me next. Um I feel like I started off playing the game how I wanted to play it. And if I'm being for real, Diko actually played the game exactly how I wanted to play it. Not so much the block voting, and we'll get into that, but being a little bit more surgical and not trying to have too much emotional connection. I I went in there and I think one of the things I say in the first episode is I'm not here to make friends. That went out the window. I was like, I love all these people so much. I fell in love with everybody, and it was really difficult to shut that off and not have these emotional connections with people because I like to do that in my in my real life. It just bled into into the game. Um the block voting started off, I thought was a good idea. Um and then it slowly turned me off, you know. Um, and then once Henry was block voted, I was like, uh, what are we doing here? Like, you know, I thought Henry might have been a trader. That was a bit of a stab in the dark, but it just it was that was a little bit of an eye-opener for me, and that was when I was like, Dicko, you've got to stop recruiting stop recruiting, you know. But you know, Dico being Dicko, you didn't listen to old me. So he kept recruiting traders and and all kinds of people.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, I mean, tell me about that, because that was quite an interesting or controversial strategy from Diko. How did you feel about that kind of strategy? Because at first you were on board and then you changed your mind.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so I know that yeah, as you said, it's a it's a controversial strategy, and I know that people uh going on about it online, but at first it made sense. I was like, you know what? At the start, totally makes sense. Let's just start knocking people off. And we may get a trader as a stab in the dark. As it went on, um, it just became a bit dirty, and I was trying to steer get Dicko to vote one way, and I'm like, listen, things are happening, we've got to actually find traders, and then he'd recruit someone else, and I'm like, oh, I suspect Kirby, like you've just recruited her and given her all our information. Um, so that was kind of annoying. Um, I love Diko to death, but that was like, oh come on, mate, like we just need to keep it to you know a couple of us. Um so I kind of branched out to other groups and you know, with with with Chrissy, Gamble, Kira, and Claudia. Um so I was spending a lot of time with them um and and and getting trying to get information on what they thought as well. Um, still being a part of LSD and you know, they didn't really know I was a part of that group, but I I was. Um yeah, it was it was difficult. A lot of that stuff they didn't show um me with with with those amazing ladies, like they didn't really show that. It was more me just being a follower of Dico's, which was was fine for the story, I get. Uh, but in truth, it wasn't necessarily that way in reality. Um, you know, there was some certain elements of it that definitely were. Um, but you know, sometimes I fought him on a couple of ones, um, but I also agreed with him on a couple as well. So it was a tough watch to watch it back um because you're seeing everything, you know. But when you're in the game, you're only seeing, you know, this much. And then you know, you've got all these armchair quarterbacks saying, you know, I'd do this and shouldn't do that. And are they playing the game? No, no, we've got to get traders out. We were trying to get traders out. It's just that we were trying to get a team together to get traders out. Um, but me and Dico did have a little bit of a difference in opinion on how to do that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think that was clear, and I think that's an interesting thing when you go into a game like this and you obviously have an existing relationship. Um, and that changes things, and then you both have to figure out how you want to play. So I think that was really interesting seeing that play out. In terms of traitor hunting, I want to talk about Kirby because you were the one of the first people to catch on to Kirby as a traitor, but then you changed your mind. Can you tell me about that and where where was that sitting with you by the time you were murdered?
SPEAKER_01So, yeah, I'll I I was onto her. Like straight away, I was like, Kurbs is definitely a traitor, she's too active, she's too stoic, she's incredibly intelligent, um, very articulate, um, you know, very just she's quite polarizing when when when you're with her. Because she's she's a sports person, you know, she's you know, knows what she's doing, uh, and and a survivor player. Um I just had you know, I could tell that she had something behind her eyes. Um, so I was on onto it. Obviously, I flip-flopped when the Henry thing happened, um, because Henry that came out of nowhere for all of us, that Henry episode, right? Um, and he attacked uh my boys, the you know, Luke and and Josh, and I and I kind of got a little bit my back up with that, and then I started to think, well, maybe he's the trader, and I saw like this reaction from Kirby that I thought was was real, her saying I'm not a trader, but in reality it was just her being angry. So I was seeing honest reaction, but I wasn't seeing the reaction that I thought I was actually seeing. If that does that make sense, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00You you saw real emotion, but you read the emotion wrong.
SPEAKER_01100%. So that's kind of what did me in. And then I came full circle again because after you know a few other things, I was back on Kirby. You know, I'm like, uh how did I ever move off from that? Um and and another thing that sort of came out of out of left field was was the Cosima vote. Right. So I don't know if you felt that when we voted her, that everyone voted for her. If that was out of out of you know, out of nowhere, that whole day was discussions about Cosima, right? Um with with the girls, and you know, everybody was like, she's acting so weird today. And Dicko was left out of that because I knew that Dicko was very close with Cosima. So that was uh an interesting sort of dynamic, and he was obviously pretty upset and pissed off about that, and rightly so, because she was a bloody faithful. Uh, but everyone legitimately thought that she was a traitor. Um yeah, it's just so difficult being in there.
SPEAKER_00So by the time you left, I guess, who were your top picks for traitors?
SPEAKER_01So never guessed Alvin, not even once. Um uh Kirby was was still pretty high up there. Um, there was a moment that isn't aired where Kira kind of made a bit of a slip up in the church and said to the priest, when can we go out with our fellow traders? I turned to Alex and I was really close with Kira, you don't really see on the show, but I was really close with Kira. And I turned to Alex, who was behind me, and I'm like, oh my god, Kira's just slipped up. And then after dinner we're having some drinks, and and Alex came up to me, and I'd had interactions with Alex, but she leant really close into me and she sort of did this, and she's like, So, do you think are you gonna tell anyone at the round table about what Kira said? Are you gonna bring it up with anyone? And I was like, No, Kira's not gonna kill me. We're mates, she she would never do that. I think I'm pretty safe, I'm gonna keep it to myself, right? You do what you want to do. At the time, didn't think anything of it, didn't bring it up at round table, didn't tell anyone, and then Diko got voted out. Kirby looked straight at me, and I saw her in her eyes, oh shit. And I knew at that point it was 100% confirmed that she was a traitor. Um, and then when I went home, or when we went back up to the rooms, I was writing down in the diary and I got to Alex's name. And I'm like, that interaction was really, really weird and kind of out of nowhere. And that's when I was like, Alex, I'm dead. You know what I mean? And that's that's when I realized that I was dead. And handy god, like I started packing that.
SPEAKER_00Wow. So what part of the interaction with Alex?
SPEAKER_01It's hard to explain. It's like I just had at the time I didn't think anything of it. I was just like just having this conversation with with Alex, you know, should we, shouldn't we, should we, shouldn't we? And then yeah, it was just like a a moment that I just thought to myself, I was just like, that was weird. And then I was I sort of did, you know, pros and cons and did this whole thing, and it just sort of worked out that I was dead, kind of thing. I I don't know how to explain it, but it was just a moment where I was just like, oh shit, uh that was that was me dying, you know.
SPEAKER_00Wow, and that's what happened. Yeah, gut feel, and um, I guess when sometimes when you know, you know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, she's playing an amazing game, yeah. And you know, actually all the trainers are. Um, but yeah, it was just that just moment when I got back to the room, I was just like, oh shit. You know, and that point you can't tell anyone.
SPEAKER_00So I want to ask you obviously, your dad is Australian music legend John Farnum. Is it true that there were some people in the manor that didn't know who John Farnum was?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but like these people are in their early 20s. You know, I'm 44. Um, you know, I'm I'm not gonna name any names because I don't want to do that to them. And you know, not that they would care, but you know, they they didn't know because it's not in their their thing, you know. So I I wasn't offended, and if I was offended, that would be silly. Um, you know, one name I will mention, and I I've mentioned this before, Chrissy Marsh, love you to death, girl. But she came up to me and she goes, I I love that song that your dad does, horses. And I said, No, that's Darrell Braithwaite. Well, wrong icon. Gamble, obviously, she's in the music industry, so she was very aware. And um, you know, most of the people that were in the entertainment industry, not necessarily reality shows new, um, but some of the the younger ones didn't know. And I I I forget that I'm like 44, you know, I'm talking to you know, these people that you know.
SPEAKER_00I don't think I don't think there's any excuse.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. I can't I can't say that.
SPEAKER_00So has your dad been watching? What did he think of you on the traders?
SPEAKER_01He has, and I was pretty worried because you know, uh I I want to represent pretty well and not make a fool of him and a fool of our name and family and all that sort of stuff. But um, he's called me and he's a couple of times and he's had a good laugh with me about it. And you know, he was devastated last night um when I got murdered. Um but you know it's it's all part of it and fun, and he's been enjoying it, and he'll continue to watch it, and he's got his favourites, and you know who's his favorite? Who's his favorite? He likes Alex.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think he thinks he thinks that she's pretty cute. So yeah, he he likes Alex, and uh yeah, we'll leave it at that.
SPEAKER_00I'd love to get to some quick fire questions.
SPEAKER_01Go for it.
SPEAKER_00All right, who was your favorite person in the game? Gamble. Who were you most wary of?
SPEAKER_01Kirby.
SPEAKER_00If you were a traitor, who would have been top of your list to murder?
SPEAKER_01Dicko.
SPEAKER_00Why?
SPEAKER_01Because I I I he was a threat, you know. I feel like he probably would have been a threat. And if I had a killed him, I don't think that that would have they would have suspected me.
SPEAKER_00If you could be on any other reality show, what would you be on?
SPEAKER_01Oh god. Um I don't know. Um, I don't know if I'd do any other reality show. I'd do traders again. Um thanks channel 10. Um, but yeah, I I don't know if I'd do another reality show. I'm too old for that. You know, I can't do love I can't do Love Island, I'm married, you know, I can't do maths, I'm married, you know, I can't cook, you know, I'm I'm not gonna eat weird stuff. I hate spiders, I hate snakes, I don't want to be in your jungle, you know. So it's unless it's you know celebrity, uh it's a knockout, which do you know what it's a knockout is? Or uh unless it's something like that, then probably not.
SPEAKER_00Okay, what Australian celebrity would you like to see play the traders?
SPEAKER_01Julia Morris. So I I think Julia Morris would be hilarious because she is such a big character. Um she's very funny, uh boisterous, and I think she'd be I think she'd be too obvious as a trader, but I think she'd I think she'd be a great faithful, and she'd be hilarious to know. She is fantastic. She's amazing. You you need you need the one-liners in there because it is an intense environment. Um, you need people in there that are going to lighten the mood and you know, you know, and and bring everyone together when it's down, you know. And there was moments when it was a bit down, so you need someone like that.
SPEAKER_00Thank you so much, Rob. I really appreciate you coming on to chat.
SPEAKER_01I appreciate that. Thank you so much.
